According, to Oxford Dictionary; the winter solstice marks the onset of winter, at the time of the shortest day, about December 22 in the northern hemisphere and June 21 in the southern hemisphere.
It appears that the Sun is standing still during this unique time and is at the lowest elevation. Throughout Indigenous culture, the sun has been referenced as an energy source that charges all living forms on Mother Earth.
Various civilizations have festivals and rituals that produce certain results based the cultures intentions. We have seen people manifest consumers goods during the Christmas season by creating a list and providing a sacrifice to obtain the desired wish.
The etmology of Blessing means "To Sacrifice". No blessing is received until a sacrifice has taken place, i.e Time, Effort, Money, etc.
The winter solstice significance was important to our tribes because the tribes progress was dependent on healthy yields from crops. Many civilizations of the region starved during the first months of the winter, which were January to April.
The weather prevented our groups from adequalty farming. Today we have technology, which can be leveraged to create solutions for famine. We look to share these concepts with indigenous tribes around the world via our Resources section.
